Tottori Prefecture, which faces North Korea across the Sea of Japan, conducted a simulation Tuesday to test its evacuation-procedure manual covering a possible foreign military attack.

The so-called desk plan drill was carried out to assess the prefectural government's level of cooperation among its bureaus and police force, as well as with the Self-Defense Forces.

The drill simulated the evacuation of some 26,000 residents in the Iwami region spanning eastern Tottori Prefecture and neighboring Hyogo Prefecture.
