Skynet Asia Airways, a small airline based in the city of Miyazaki, plans to start taking reservations from customers over the Internet in the latter half of September, company officials said Tuesday.

The company decided to introduce online booking, which does away with the settlement function, because an increasing number of customers were asking for it.

The airline, which launched flights between Tokyo's Haneda airport and Miyazaki Prefecture in August, hopes to attract more customers by introducing online booking.

The airline currently takes reservations over the phone or through travel agencies.

Skynet Asia got off to a good start with a robust seat-occupancy ratio of 85.1 percent in August.
