Police on Monday served a fresh arrest warrant for a 45-year-old unemployed man in Fukuoka Prefecture on suspicion of smuggling into Japan a large amount of illegal stimulants and cannabis from Germany.

Yutaka Handa, already detained and charged with possessing drugs, is suspected of sending about 5,000 ecstasy pills and roughly 880 grams of cannabis to his home in Kurume from Germany. He allegedly mailed them April 2, police said.

Customs officials here found the drugs in parcels addressed to Handa and referred the case to police.

Handa's first arrest came May 2 on suspicion of possessing about 400 ecstasy pills and about 3 grams of cannabis at his home. He was later indicted.
