Cannes award to Japanese director

Japanese director Kunitoshi Manda’s “Unloved” won the Prix du Jury Oecumenique for “upcoming talent” Thursday at the Cannes International Film Festival.

The first feature film by 45-year-old Manda, from Tokyo, was screened during the Critics Week of the 54th annual film festival at the French resort.

The film depicts the relationship between two men and a woman, each of whom finds it difficult to associate with other people.
