Police arrested a 34-year-old man on Wednesday for allegedly using a forged 10,000 yen note to get prepaid highway toll cards.

The arrested man was named as Isao Hashimoto, unemployed, from Okayama, police said.

According to investigators, Hashimoto obtained 10,000 yen worth of prepaid toll cards at a department store in Yonago, Tottori Prefecture, in February, by using a false 10,000 yen bill. He later admitted forging the note with the use of a scanner and a personal computer, police said.

Police also suspect that Hashimoto used at least two more 10,00 yen bills he had forged at his home. Investigators said they had found several forged bank notes at his residence.

Hashimoto's arrest came after police identified the car he had used when he visited the store to buy the toll cards, they said.
