A 37-year-old officer of the Shizuoka Prefectural Police was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of participating in obscene acts with a 15-year-old girl and paying her 100,000 yen in cash, prefectural police said Wednesday.
Masafumi Honda, a senior officer at the Hamamatsu Chuo Police Station, was arrested for allegedly procuring sex from a minor. Honda was sacked the same day.
According to investigators, Honda committed sexual acts with the girl at a hotel in the city of Fukuroi, Shizuoka Prefecture, at around 11:30 a.m. on March 20, despite knowing that she was underage. The money was given to the girl the same day, they said.
Honda allegedly became acquainted with the girl through an Internet dating Web site in mid-February.
The incident came to light when the girl's mother told police at Iwata Police Station, Shizuoka Prefecture, that her daughter was behaving strangely. When police questioned the girl, she told them what had happened, investigators said.
