A cargo ship on Friday loaded 11 tons of spent nuclear fuel at a port in Ibaraki Prefecture. The fuel will be taken to the Rokkasho nuclear fuel-reprocessing plant in Aomori Prefecture.

The 3,000-ton Rokuei Maru finished loading the fuel at the Japan Atomic Power Co. nuclear plant’s harbor in the village of Tokai, Ibaraki Prefecture, in the early afternoon.
