Sanwa Bank, Tokai Bank and Asahi Bank, which will integrate their operations next April under a holding company, announced Friday they will waive the 105 yen fee they charge their customers to use automated teller machines at the three banks, beginning June 19.

Currently, the fee is charged if customers withdraw money from an ATM at a bank where they do not have an account.

For interaccount money transfers via ATM, the three banks will slash charges for their customers as long as they are made within the three banks. Charges will be between half and one-quarter of the current amount, the banks said.

The three banks will have the largest bank ATM network in Japan, with 10,000 outlets.

Tokai and Asahi started waiving the fees from December 1998, in accordance with their business collaboration agreement.
