Magma activity at Hokkaido's Mount Usu is gradually subsiding, with experts monitoring the mountain saying Monday that the eruptions may end if this trend continues.
It was the first mention of a possible end to the volcanic activity since Mount Usu started erupting March 31.
The experts held a meeting at the Meteorological Agency in Tokyo to review their outlook on the 732-meter volcano following the recent calming in volcanic activity.
