In a bid to strengthen its foothold in international telecommunications, NTT Communications Corp. will make a capital investment in Japan Satellite Systems Inc., top officials of the two firms announced Tuesday.

In exchange, JSAT, an operator of five communications satellites for telecom and TV broadcasting services, will buy the international and long-distance telecom carrier’s stake in two domestic communications satellites, the officials said.
