The world's largest international video contest, Tokyo Video Festival, opens its doors to the public from Feb. 24-28 to screen a wide variety of video shorts made by professionals and amateurs from around the world.
As part of "TVF 2007 Screening Week," 55 domestically produced videos will be shown on a large screen in addition to other selected films, whittled down from almost 3,500 entries, at personal audiovisual booths. Admission is free. One hundred of the best works can also currently be seen on the Web site of the festival's sponsors, JVC, where viewers can vote for their favorite videos until the Feb. 22 deadline. Among them is "Baghdad ER," which graphically tells the story of the United States' 86th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad, described by one worker at the hospital as "the tip of the spear for army medicine in Iraq."
