The U.S. federal government shutdown is affecting Americans overseas and some non-Americans and has led to the cancellation of some diplomatic talks with the United States.

It has even made it difficult to figure out which functions have been halted, adding an element of uncertainty.

Consular services at U.S. embassies, including the issuing of passports and visas and assisting U.S. citizens abroad, are still offered, while certain domestic support for consular operations have been suspended, according to the U.S. State Department’s website.
