A man was arrested Sunday night after he mistakenly broke into the clubhouse of soccer team Tokyo Verdy 1969, thinking it was the dormitory of the Yomiuri Giants baseball team, according to police.
Isao Isojima, 32, a company employee, was held after breaking through a glass door of the clubhouse in Kawasaki of the J. League first-division team and entering the building to carry out a grudge attack, the police said Monday.
Immediately before the attack, Isojima was driving on a nearby street and got into a quarrel with the driver of the Giants’ pickup bus, according to investigators.
He only realized his mistake while talking to the clubhouse caretaker, who detained Isojima and called police, they said.
