Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics Day 16: First time for everything
It was a day of big firsts. Finland picked up its first gold of the games, and Nana Takagi become the only woman to get two speedskating golds at Pyeonchang, but perhaps the most historic first was Czech snow star Ester Ledecka taking golds in both the giant slalom event of snowboarding and skiing.

Japan bobsled makers miss out on Olympic games glory
On Feb. 17, the BBC reported that the Jamaican women's bobsled team would compete in its “preferred sled” at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea “after a beer producer purchased the craft and donated it” to the team. The main concern had been the departure of the team’s German coach, who was reportedly "legally responsible" for the Latvian-made vehicle. The Jamaican Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation was afraid the coach would take the sled with her after, according to her claims, she was "forced out." Apparently, she demanded payment for the sled's use, and Jamaican brewer Red Stripe came up with the money. Everybody was happy.

Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics Day 15: The sweet smell of success
It wasn't the sunniest day for fans of Japan at the Olympics. South Korea's seemingly unstoppable "Garlic Girls" beat the Japanese team as they continue their run as overnight stars. Skating fans also had their hearts broken when both Satoko Miyahara and Kaori Sakamoto were bumped out of the top spots following memorable performances by the Russian skaters.

9 a.m. Snowboarding, women’s parallel GS: Originally scheduled for Thursday, the final has been moved to Saturday because strong winds are in the forecast. Tomoka Takeuchi, the silver medalist at the Sochi Olympics, makes her third Winter Olympics appearance. She has recovered from a torn ligament in her left knee in 2016.
