Japan and Kashima Antlers midfielder Mitsuo Ogasawara, who is seeking a transfer to a European club, will take part in training sessions at English Premier League side West Ham United this month, sources close to him said Sunday.
Ogasawara will leave Japan on Tuesday to join West Ham’s training sessions for about one week in an attempt to obtain an offer for his services from the London club.
Kashima has notified Ogasawara of its intention to sit at the negotiating table if West Ham make an official offer.
Last summer, Ogasawara received an offer from Italian first-division club Lecce, but Kashima denied the 26-year-old a move overseas until the end of the 2005 football season in Japan.
