Regarding Cesar Chelala's Feb. 17 article, "Rumsfeld prosecution could set precedent": I would welcome and encourage this action. Some way must be found to hold to account such outlaws — and I include the former U.S. president, vice president, their senior staff and the lawyers who wrote the incredible exculpatory memos.

My country has gone mad, and even now it is not willing to face the fact that we have become a rogue state on a par with many of the states from the past and present that feel that laws do not apply to them. We are balanced on a knife-edge here, much like 70-odd years ago, and it seems all too likely that we could fall the same way that other civilized nations fell into terrible shame. I pray that we somehow manage to get through the next decade or so, and slowly return to sanity.
