I think the majority of Tamils are Hindus. I am a Sinhalese Buddhist. To me Tamils are the same as Sinhalese, Muslims or any other ethnic group in Sri Lanka. All races are equal. There are as many people among Tamils, Muslims and others whom I respect as there are Sinhalese. Similarly there are plenty of bad people in all the communities.
Contrary to the propaganda, there was no Sinhalese discrimination against Tamils beyond that created by evil-minded politicians, both Tamil and Sinhalese. Among Tamils, severe caste-based discrimination led to agitation in the form of a war against Sinhalese. Similarly, it is believed that suppression of the masses by the Sinhalese ruling elite triggered a Marxist uprising. Prabhakaran is just a Tamil terrorist just as the Marxist rebel leader was a Sinhalese criminal.
Anyway, the murderous megalomania of Prabhakaran has disenfranchised Tamils much more than it has hurt the Sinhalese. And the curse of Prabhakaran has deprived all Sri Lankans of economic prosperity and personal security.
