Regarding the June 5 article "North Korea family was desperate to escape": I was so touched by the plight of the four refugees and the worsening social and economic situation in North Korea. This family made a very dangerous move and could have perished at sea. I believe that many have tried to take the same course but could not arrive at their dream destination. Isn't it about time that the world body prevailed on North Korea to address the deteriorating living conditions there?

Anyway, I would like to thank Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for the kind gesture toward the Korean refugees. I extend my heart to him. I am happy and humbled by his willingness to protect the human rights of the North Korean refugees and allow them to go to South Korea as they had wished.

I believe there are many more people in North Korea who wished they had left the place for another country. It is my hope, and I believe that of many others, that North Korea will do what it is needed to better the economic and social lives of the suffering masses in that country.
