Police put road-rage suspect on wanted list

JIJI

The Ibaraki Prefectural Police put a 43-year-old man on a nationwide wanted list over an alleged assault in a high-profile case of road rage.

The police obtained an arrest warrant for the man, Fumio Miyazaki, whose address and occupation are unknown, on Friday and later put him on the nationwide list. The police also released a profile photo of the suspect.

Miyazaki allegedly stopped a car driven by a 24-year-old man by recklessly driving his own car near the Moriya rest area on the inbound lanes of the Joban Expressway in Moriya, Ibaraki Prefecture, at around 6:15 a.m. on Aug. 10, according to the police.

After getting out of his car, Miyazaki is suspected of punching the man several times, shouting things like “I’ll kill you!” The man submitted a victim report to police last Sunday.

The series of acts were recorded in a dashboard camera in the victim’s car, and the footage was analyzed by the prefectural police.

They also suspect that a woman who was in Miyazaki’s car at the time of the assault took a video of the incident with her mobile phone.
