Sony Corp. is planning to hire Toyota Motor Corp. Vice Chairman Fujio Cho as an outside director to take advantage of his advice for reinvigorating its electronics business, company sources said Thursday.
Sony plans to nominate Cho, 69, as a director candidate within this month and have the nomination approved at a general meeting of shareholders in late June, they said.
Sony's 12-member board has eight outside directors, including Orix Corp. Chairman Yoshihiko Miyauchi, 70.
