The House of Representatives will vote Friday on whether Democratic Party of Japan lawmaker Shingo Nishimura, on trial for having attorney work done in his name, should be asked to quit the Diet, key members of the chamber's steering committee said.
Executive committee members of all parties represented in the Diet initially agreed Tuesday morning to hold the vote Thursday, but decided later in the day to postpone it by one day due to Nishimura's schedule, they said.
The resolution, sponsored by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its coalition partner, New Komeito, calls on Nishimura, who has been charged with misconduct as a lawyer, to leave the Diet.
