Nikko Cordial Securities Inc. said Wednesday a computer glitch prevented all 108 offices and call centers around Japan from inputting stock trade orders throughout the two-hour morning trading session.

Online stock trading proceeded normally, the brokerage said.

Transactions handled by the offices and call centers make up an estimated 60 percent of the total stock trades processed by the securities firm.

The glitch was discovered shortly before the market opened Wednesday and was rectified around 12:30 p.m. after the morning session was over, Nikko Cordial said.

The orders received at offices and call centers in the morning were to be processed in the afternoon, and the company said it will investigate the cause of the system problem.
