An association of medical doctors and researchers specializing in cancer treatment said Monday it plans to establish a system to certify cancer specialists in an effort to provide better treatment and reduce medical accidents.
The certification system is also aimed at training doctors to work in teams treating cancer because coordinating doctors in various fields is increasingly required for effective treatment, the Japan Society of Clinical Oncology said.
