The daughter of former Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka has decided not to appeal a high court ruling that rescinded an earlier injunction banning sale of a weekly magazine that featured an article about her divorce, her lawyers said Saturday.

The Tokyo High Court on Wednesday overruled a district court's injunction against the publication of the March 17 edition of Shukan Bunshun.

While the district court said sales of the magazine could violate the privacy of Tanaka's daughter, the high court rescinded the injunction, citing the need to respect freedom of expression and the public's right to know.
