Leading consumer lender Takefuji Corp. has apologized for suing freelance journalists and magazine publishers over their reports on the company’s use of wiretaps to gather information.
Takefuji posted an official apology on its Web site Wednesday night. It is addressed to journalists and magazine publishers whom the firm “thoughtlessly” accused in damages suits and on its Web site in connection with their reports on the firm’s alleged wiretapping of two journalists and others.
