A man armed with a crossbow and other weapons was arrested Monday after he entered the head office of Fuji Television Network Inc. in Tokyo to complain about program content.
The 31-year-old man was carrying a crossbow, six arrows, a knife, a stun gun and a tear gas spray can, police said.
No one was injured in the incident.
According to police, the man walked into the TV station in Minato Ward at around 11:20 a.m. and demanded a meeting with Fuji TV's chief executive.
Police arrested him as he waited in a room for the executive to appear.
According to police, the man, who said he is a shop owner, was speaking incoherently and they believe he may be mentally unstable or was under the influence of drugs.
Fuji officials reportedly quoted the man as saying, "I want to ask about the sexually harassing content of your programs," as he showed his weapons in the building's entrance hall.
