Saison Automobile & Fire Insurance Co., a casualty insurer in the Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. group, plans to expand its range of products beyond its core auto policies, company officials said Thursday.

The company will offer a wider range of insurance, including medical insurance, by taking advantage of products offered at group firms.

The insurer aims to boost its net premium income, now at 17 billion yen, by 30 percent a year to double it in three years. Saison Automobile President Koshin Matsuzawa will unveil details of the business plan at a strategy meeting in Tokyo on Friday.

The company currently has operational bases mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area and Miyagi, Yamagata and Niigata prefectures, but will expand to cover the whole of Japan.

Sompo Japan was formed July 1 via the merger of Yasuda Fire & Marine Insurance Co. and Nissan Fire & Marine Insurance Co.
