Theodor Geppert, a professor emeritus at Sophia University, died Saturday of heart failure at a nursing home in Tokyo, university officials said Monday. He was 98.
A native of Germany, Geppert taught history of economics at the private university in Tokyo, the officials said.
Geppert retired in March 1974.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at St. Ignatius Church near the university, according to the officials.
