Heavy downpours in the Kanto and Koshin regions disrupted train services Saturday as the rainy season got under way in earnest in eastern Japan.
The downpours forced East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) to partially suspend train services on the Sotobo and Uchibo lines.
Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) temporarily reduced speed on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line between Mishima and Shizuoka stations in Shizuoka Prefecture as rainfall exceeded safety standards in some locations early Saturday.
