A burglar stole about 230,000 yen in cash from the suburban Tokyo house of Naoto Kan, secretary general of the Democratic Party of Japan, police said Monday.
The police said his family reported the burglary of their home in Musashino at around 8 p.m. Sunday.
The cash and a ring were taken from a desk on the first floor, where a broken window was discovered, the police said.
