Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. on April 18 will launch an upgraded version of its PlayStation2 video game console in which a hard disk drive can be installed.
Similar to one already sold overseas, the SCPH-30000 can be upgraded to play high-speed online games, said SCE, a game-making subsidiary of Sony Corp. The current Japan model can only accommodate an external hard disk drive.
The SCPH-30000 is expected to go for about 39,800 yen, the suggested retail price of the current PlayStation2.
