International Greenpeace activists and local antinuclear groups said Friday that two British ships carrying mixed uranium-plutonium fuel for nuclear power plants would likely dock at their offloading points on Sept. 27 and Sept. 30.

Shaun Burnie, research director for nuclear issues at Greenpeace International, said the 5,000 ton Pacific Pintail would dock in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, by Thursday, Sept. 30 at the earliest. It's cargo is bound for a nuclear plant in Fukui.

"The Pacific Teal, which is carrying MOX fuel for a plant in Fukushima, will probably unload its MOX fuel Monday, Sept. 27. Both ships will then travel through the Tsugaru Straits to get to Fukui, and we estimate that total travel time will take about three days," Burnie said Friday.

The schedules of both ships are being kept secret for security reasons. Both ships have arrived in the Fukushima area, but have not docked due to inclement weather.
