A new specialized boutique for the Seiko Prospex brand, the first of its kind in the world, opened in Tokyo on Aug.2.

Among Seiko's many timepieces, Seiko Prospex has developed into a leading sports watch brand with high functionality for activities such as diving and trekking, in response to the needs of professionals around the world.

"Since releasing Japan's first diver's watch in 1965, we have introduced a number of innovative sports watches," said Shinji Hattori, CEO of Seiko Watch Corp., during a press event ahead of the store's opening. "Most recently, we released a new high-end Prospex LX line in July, at the top of our sports watch heritage of functionality, while also pursuing aesthetic beauty," Hattori said.

During the event, industrial designer Ken Okuyama, who supervised the design of the Prospex LX line, emphasized how Seiko's watches have been trusted by divers as a "lifeline." He agreed with Hattori on the importance of heritage and evolution.

Additionally, Actor Ken Ishiguro gave his impression of the new store.

"With its compact design, the store tells us the stories of Seiko Prospex," he said.

The new store is located in the heart of Ginza and is Seiko's fifth retail outlet in the upscale shopping district. Embodying the concept of Prospex LX, the store aims to offer a sophisticated space that focuses on presenting the Prospex collection.
