Kodansha Comics' new "Colossal Edition" of Hajime Isayama's "Attack on Titan" manga certainly lives up to its name. Weighing over 2 kg and containing around 1,000 pages, this beast of a book — which contains the first five volumes of the manga — is not made for wimps. But those who can pick it up will rewarded with never-before-seen (not even in Japan!) extras, including 15 pages of glossy color artwork.

Attack on Titan Colossal Edition 1, by Hajime Isayama.
Kodansha Comics, Manga.

Humanity is on the brink of extinction, with humans hunted and eaten by giant humanoid monsters known as Titans. The remnants of Earth's population have retreated behind a series of massive walls and struggle to keep the hellish creatures at bay. The story follows Eren, his adopted sister Mikasa and their friend Armin, three teenagers who survived a deadly attack by a Colossus Titan five years earlier and have vowed revenge. As they join the elite Survey Corps, whose responsibility it is to venture out into Titan-held lands to find out more about their enemy, Eren begins to discover that he may actually be the key to mankind's survival.
