"Oblivion" was the first of this year's crop of underwhelming sci-fi films. In 2077, aliens have taken control of Earth's surface, and Tom Cruise plays a bubble-craft pilot protecting the massive space-tankers that siphon off the remaining water to take it to wherever it is that humanity has relocated. It's worth a look for the great set design — all post-Kubrick/Steve Jobs gleaming white and glass — but the plot is a poor pastiche of "Moon," "The Matrix," "12 Monkeys" and "Wall-E," all better films.
