"Hard Enough," by Opposite8 (Noga Records, Trancelucent Productions)

This CD surprised me because I had long ago given up on trying to use Chevy Chase sound bytes in my remixed tracks. His straight-on delivery of classic movie lines just never sounded right with the stuff in my playlist. But on "Hard Enough," the debut album from Opposite8 (Idan Hos and Kobi Kastoriyano), we get two excellent Chase-graced selections. ("Stop Thinking," from the classic film "Caddyshack," and "Line In, Line Out," which I haven't figured out yet.)

Hos and Kastoriyano got together about a year and a half for this project. The result here is nine very inviting dance tracks that will grab you right about hip-level. For morning music, this one is just hard enough. DJs will enjoy the choices they get here for those moments when they need to take edge off but still keep things moving. Another favorite here is track No. 5, "Black Out," which has one of the trippiest vocal effects I've heard all year, bouncing along on a chunky sandwich of delcious melodies.
