SAN FRANCISCO -- If you've ever had the pleasure of watching a U.S. college or pro football game on television, you'll notice one thing invariably. Just before the commercial they'll pan to a too-cute-to-be-true cheerleader.

She'll have that megawatt smile, a little game-day tattoo affixed to her cheek, one hand resting on her tiny waist the other in the air shaking a pompom. With a quick nod of her head and swish of her pony tail, she'll chirp perkily, "Go Bruins!" or "Go Huskers!" or "Go . . . " Fill in your team's name here.

If you're like me, you'll find yourself thinking you'd happily forgo some football for a couple of more minutes with her and her peppy crew. A few more of those high kicks and girlish squeals of delight surely wouldn't do any harm.
