The Bambitious Nara staged an offensive clinic against the struggling Tokyo Cinq Reves on Sunday.

Portland State product Chehales Tapscott had a game-high 31 points and Andre Murray, also a PSU alum, added 19 as the Bambitious rolled past Tokyo 100-77 in Nara.

The Cinq Reves (4-22) have lost 13 straight games.

Nara (9-13) held the visitors to 34 second-half points.

"Yeah, it was a great team effort, we took care of the ball and forced them to turn it over," Tapscott, a 195-cm forward, told The Japan Times.

"Also, outside of their two Americans (Jemal Farmer and Will Foster) who usually score ... nobody else really did much," added Tapscott, who had 10 rebounds, five assists, five steals and two blocks. "And offensively everyone was involved for us...

"It feels good, but honestly it was a team effort so I want to give them credit as well."

With 22 games in the books now, Tapscott was asked to assess his performance this season, his first in the bj-league.

"I think I've done a solid job doing my part and that's scoring, rebounding and helping get others involved, as well as just being a good teammate," he commented.

Big man Michael St. John added 17 points for Nara, which racked up 27 assists against 10 turnovers. Taishi Kasahara and Tatsuya Suzuki each added 10 points for the second-year franchise, the latter also dishing out a game-high nine assists.

Suzuki is the league leader in assists (6.5 per game) and is averaging 11.0 points per game.

"Tatsuya has been brilliant," Tapscott said. "He plays very well consistently, he's our leader and he does a great job leading the team. He's for sure valuable. Also, he handles the ball most of the time for us, so that's always important."

Farmer paced the Cinq Reves with 24 points on 11-for-18 shooting and Foster had 23 points and 15 rebounds.

Susanoo Magic 77, Five Arrows 76

In Takamatsu, Joe Chapman had 20 points and dished out five assists and Isiah Brown and Bingo Morriex each poured in 13 points as Shimane completed a series sweep.

The Five Arrows (7-19) suffered their 12th consecutive defeat.

Morriex grabbed 11 rebounds to complete the double-double and Shuichi Takada had 10 points, as did teammate Edward Yamamoto, who handed out seven assists for the Susanoo Magic (6-18).

Dexter Lyons paced Takamatsu with 19 points and Justin Watts, a former University of North Carolina player, added 17. B.J. Puckett scored 16 points and Koki Yabuuchi finished with 13 points and five assists.

Grouses 82, Evessa 66

In Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, Masashi Joho had 18 points and six assists and Jamelle Horne scored 17 points as Toyama won for the second time in as many days.

Grouses big man Sam Willard had 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting, grabbed 12 rebounds and matched Joho's team-high assist total. Joe Werner finished with 13 points for Toyama (19-7), which has won five consecutive games.

Shota Konno paced Osaka (15-11) with 14 points and Naoto Nakamura scored 12. Gary Hamilton had 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

The Evessa were 0-for-17 from 3-point range.

Firebonds 86, Lakestars 72

In Kusatsu, Shiga Prefecture, Verdell Jones III scored 19 points and contributed six assists and five steals in a banner performance in Fukushima's final game of 2014.

The Firebonds (8-18), a first-year franchise, earned a split in the two-game series.

Terrance Shannon chipped in with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Masaya Karimata canned four 4s and had 18 points and four steals for Fukushima. Shinya Murakami scored 11 points, draining 3 of 4 3s, and Edward Morris finished with nine points and nine boards.

The Firebonds outscored the hosts 33-13 in the final period.

Terrance Woodbury paced Shiga (13-7) with 14 points and Jeff Parmer had 13. Ray Nixon added 10 and Yu Okada scored nine.

The Lakestars turned the ball over 24 times.

Phoenix 99, 89ers 69

In Hamamatsu, Mo Charlo's 20-point, 13-rebound, eight-assist effort guided the Phoenix to a runaway win over Sendai.

Five of Charlo's teammates also scored in double figures: Jermaine Green (17 points), Nile Murry (14), Shingo Okada and Atsuya Ota (13 apiece; the latter was 6-for-7 from the floor with nine rebounds) and Olu Ashaolu (10).

Masahiro Oguchi had four steals as Hamamatsu (21-3) extended its win streak to 12 games.

Sendai trailed 46-32 at halftime.

Wendell White led the 89ers (17-9) with 25 points, and Jeral Davis, Yasuhiko Wada and Adrian Moss all scored eight.

The 89ers were held to 37.7 percent shooting from inside the arc.

B-Corsairs 66, HeatDevils 61

In Hiratsuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, Warren Niles scored 18 points, Masayuki Kabaya sank four 3s in a 15-point, six-assist afternoon and Dzaflo Larkai notched a double-double as Yokohama snapped a 12-game losing streak by beating Oita.

"It was crucial," Larkai, who had 15 points and 10 boards, told The Japan Times, referring to the end of the losing streak. "Passion and poise was the mantra for today. Winning, just like losing, is contagious. Hopefully we can build on this, the guys can gain some confidence. They just had to see that we could win one.

"It came at the right time," added Larkai. "That ugly first half of the season has passed, now we have more of an optimistic look at the second part of the season."

Yokohama (5-21) had a 21-15 lead after one quarter.

The HeatDevils (8-16) trailed 50-44 entering the fourth quarter.

Todd O'Brien scored 18 points and raked in 14 rebounds for the HeatDevils. Drew Barham added 17 points and 11 boards and Naoto Takushi handed out five assists.

Golden Kings 91, Broncos 76

In Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, Ryukyu took a 15-point lead into the second quarter and coasted from there, thrashing the winless Broncos.

Draelon Burns paced the defending champions with 23 points, knocking down 5 of 7 3s off the bench. Kibwe Trim had 14 points and nine boards for Ryukyu (20-4). Anthony Kent added 10 points and 11 rebounds and Narito Namizato supplied nine points and seven assists. Anthony McHenry and Shigeyuki Kinjo both scored eight points.

Ari Stewart led Saitama (0-22) with 23 points.

The Golden Kings out-rebounded the Broncos 54-31.

Crane Thunders 84, Rizing 80 (OT)

In Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, Carlos Dixon's 30-point afternoon sparked the hosts to a second straight overtime triumph over Fukuoka.

Marcus Morrison finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for Gunma (8-16) and Yusuke Kodera also scored 13 points, while Samuel Sawaji Jr. added 10 points and Daniel Northern Jr. had nine points and 13 rebounds.

Josh Peppers paced Fukuoka (6-18) with 41 points, including 14-for-18 from 2-point range. Kirk Van Slyke added 21 points.

Albirex BB 78, Brave Warriors 57

In Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, the Albirex held Shinshu to 39 points over the first three quarters en route to earning a series sweep.

Thomas Kennedy scored 13 points for Niigata (16-10), which has won four straight games. Yuichi Ikeda added 12 points and Shuhei Komatsu scored 10. Kimitake Sato had a nine-point outing.

Patrick Sanders led the Brave Warriors (9-13) with 15 points and Carl Hall added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Shinshu shot 14-for-46 (30.4 percent) from 2-point range and turned the ball over 18 times with just eight assists.

Northern Happinets 75, Wat's 69

In Akita, Richard Roby had a game-best 18 points and the Northern Happinets rolled to their 10th straight victory.

Shigehiro Taguchi scored 14 points and Akitomo Takeno and Yuto Otsuka both had 11 for Akita (22-4). Takeno contributed six assists and four steals, game-high totals in both categories.

Yuki Kitamuki led Aomori (14-12) with 17 points. Kyle Richardson and Makoto Sawaguchi scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, and Gyno Pomare had nine points and 16 rebounds.

Big Bulls 76, Hannaryz 72

In Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture, Scootie Randall sank five 3s in a 21-point afternoon and the Big Bulls defeated Kyoto to complete the sweep.

The Hannaryz (21-5) have lost consecutive games for the first time this season.

Wayne Arnold and Shota Onodera had 10 points apiece for Iwate (22-4), while Jun Nakanishi and Lawrence Blackledge each had nine.

Iwate led 45-31 at halftime.

Kyoto pulled within 56-52 to close out the third quarter.

David Palmer was the Hannaryz's top scorer with 20 points and Kevin Kotzur had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Shun Watanuki and Takuya Komoda both scored nine points.
