A fire broke out Sunday night on the second floor of the main building of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, prompting hundreds of guests to evacuate, police said.
No injuries were immediately reported. The fire was reported around 8:33 p.m. and was put out at 9:44 p.m., a public relations official at the Tokyo Fire Department said.
The damage was limited to about 20 sq. meters of the ceiling on the second floor, the official said.
There were reports that an explosion was heard, but this had not been confirmed, according to the police.
