Tokyo Midtown’s annual cherry blossom festival, Midtown Blossom, returns for the ninth year to toast the coming of spring, as the 200-meter stretch of Sakura Dori, lined with more than 150 trees, bursts into a sea of pink.
Under the theme of “Blossoming Spring,” the month of festivities showcases an impressive lineup of arts, performances and wining and dining options.
In collaboration with The Ritz Carlton Tokyo, Midtown Blossom 2016 will feature an outdoors Martini Blossom Lounge with a specially designed seasonal menu centered around a limited-edition Italian sparkling wine martini.
Visitors can also enjoy exhibitions of ikebana flower art and award-winning art pieces from emerging artists in the Tokyo Midtown Awards.
Mirroring Midtown’s Christmas festivities, throughout the month-long festivities visitors can enjoy the Sakura Light Up every evening, as the trees along Sakura Dori are illuminated to reflect the changing colors of the flowering cherry trees. (Nick Horton)
Midtown Blossom 2016 runs between March 18 and April 17 at Tokyo Midtown. All events and exhibitions are free. Check the website for more information.
