On the funny side of the universe
John Wood and Paul Harrison's show "Some Things Are Hard to Explain" is proving to be a big hit at the NTT Intercommunication Center. The artists' wry, tongue-in-cheek videos, drawings and animations are intentionally gormless and genuinely thought-provoking at the same time.

Open Windows: 'Sliding into the creep zone'
What has happened to Elijah Wood? The former child star whose career out-survived most of his contemporaries is slipping further and further into the creep zone. In the decade since his signature role as Frodo in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, his roles have gone from nerdy and vulnerable to nerdy and homicidal. He even starred in "Maniac" (2012), a grisly film about a murderous owner of a mannequin shop — a film that undoubtedly riffed on his pretty-boy features.

Re-start me up
When a band has entered its fifth decade and its name is virtually synonymous with rock 'n' roll, it needs no introduction. The Rolling Stones are the Stones. And "Forty Licks," released this year to mark the band's 40th anniversary, is simply a collection of their hits. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," "Let's Spend the Night Together," "Start Me Up" -- they're all classics. Oh yeah, there are also four new tracks. Any questions?
