Outgoing chairman credited for Mitsubishi Fuso turnaround
On arrival at Narita airport in 2009, the incoming chief executive of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp., Albert Kirchmann, asked his assistant there to pick him up, "Tell me, what are 'my people' expecting?" Hesitantly, the assistant replied, "They are expecting you to defend Fuso by standing up for us at Daimler's Stuttgart headquarters." Daimler is the Japanese firm's German parent.

Japan's highway bus operators partner to tap surge in overseas visitors
The number of foreign tourists visiting Japan, which hit a record-high 19.73 million last year, is still surging at a rapid pace. The number has already reached 11.7 million between January and June this year, a 28.2 percent jump on the same period last year.

Niigata bus carrier resumes charging customers after glitch led to free rides
Bus operator Niigata Kotsu said it resumed charging fares Wednesday for its Bus Rapid Transit service in central Niigata Prefecture after a free-travel hiatus lasting two days. Riders enjoyed some 3,500 free rides on 38 lines due to a system failure.
