Southpaw Terry Burrows tossed a four-hitter over seven innings Saturday as the Pacific League-leading Orix BlueWave edged the Seibu Lions 2-1 in Nagano.

Burrows (3-1) gave up a solo homer to Satoshi Nakajima in the third inning and struggled with his control but pitched well enough to pick up his third win while Hisashi Ogura worked the final two frames for his eighth save.

Ichiro Suzuki tied the game with an RBI single to right in the sixth inning and designated hitter Troy Neel followed with a single to left that drove in the winning run as the BlueWave edged 1 1/2 games ahead of Seibu in the PL standings.

Marines 11, Fighters 5

Pinch hitter Koichi Hori cracked a grand slam in the top of the seventh as Lotte came from behind to beat Nippon Ham at the Tokyo Dome in its first win of the season against the Fighters.

Trailing Nippon Ham 5-4 with no outs and the bases loaded, Hori drilled Fighters reliever Kenji Harada's pitch into the left-field bleachers for the go-ahead runs.

Lotte added three more runs in the eighth.

Fans take action

NAGOYA (Kyodo) Two people have filed a criminal complaint against Chunichi Dragons manager Senichi Hoshino and two players of the ballclub, accusing them of assaulting and injuring an umpire during an official game on May 6, police said Saturday.

The Aichi prefectural police accepted the complaint and said it will investigate the case.

The two baseball fans are pursuing charges against Hoshino, 53, infielder Kazuyoshi Tatsunami, 30, and outfielder Takayuki Onishi, 28, for harming Central League umpire Atsushi Kitakka during the game against the Yokohama BayStars at Nagoya Dome.

The three Dragons members were ejected in the seventh inning of the game for violently shoving the plate umpire while arguing a called third strike.

Kitakka, 37, was later diagnosed with broken ribs and a bruised left shoulder, requiring two weeks to recover. He has indicated he will not seek criminal charges against the three.

Dragons general manager Osamu Ito said it is likely the first time the Nagoya-based baseball club has been charged for something that occurred during a game, and expressed doubt that the investigations would lead to indictment.
