Mitsui & Co., Japan's second-biggest trading company, said Thursday it raised its stake in Synlait Investments Ltd., a New Zealand dairy company, to 22.5 percent.
The Japanese trading house will spend 11.8 million New Zealand dollars ($8.3 million) to increase its holdings, which totaled 14 percent before the increase, it said in a statement to the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
