London Olympic men's bantamweight bronze medalist Satoshi Shimizu has been suspended for one year by the International Boxing Association, it was learned Friday.

The AIBA said on its website that its disciplinary commission has ruled that Shimizu had breached technical rules and APB competition rules by failing to participate in an APB competition and failing to clearly and correctly inform APB in a timely manner about his non-participation.

APB is a pro boxing competition based on individual rankings and introduced by AIBA to showcase the best features of pro boxing.

"Shimizu shall be suspended for a period of 12 months, which includes time served under the provisional suspension effective November 21, 2014," the article said on the website.
