Former Barcelona star and current Qatari club Lekhwiya manager Michael Laudrup has said he knows the Japan Football Association is targeting him for the Japan national team job and will make a decision on his future at the season's end.

In an email to Kyodo News, Laudrup, addressing the issue of potentially taking over the four-time Asian champions with Japanese media for the first time, mentioned the possibility of leaving Qatar, but said he will weigh his options only after the May 23 Emir Cup final.

The former Danish international said he wants to focus on Lekhwiya for the time being as his side is thick in the Qatar Stars League title race, just one point behind leaders Al Sadd with nine games left.
