London Olympic champion Kohei Uchimura won the Tokyo World Cup on Saturday, booking a spot on Japan's gymnastics world championships team.

Uchimura scored 92.898 points to win the title over Germany's Fabian Hambuechen, who had 90.231. Ryohei Kato was third with 89.397.

Women's defending champion Asuka Teramoto finished fifth with 55.731. Italy's 2006 world champion Ferrari Vanessa won with a 56.799.

The world championships will be held in Nanning, China, from Oct. 3 to 12 when Uchimura attempts to capture his fifth straight title.
