Orix Buffaloes pitcher Kei Igawa has undergone surgery to remove bone spurs and cartilage from his left elbow but should be able to come back in time for spring training.

Orix chief trainer Akihiro Izutsu said Wednesday the 33-year-old former New York Yankee is expected to be sidelined for three months. Newly appointed manager Hiroshi Moriwaki said he isn't worried about Igawa not being ready for next season.

"I am not at all concerned. I think this is the best timing for him to do this," said Moriwaki.

Igawa joined the Buffaloes this season after his contract expired with the Yankees. He finished the year with a 2-7 record with a 4.65 ERA in 12 starts.
