Japan forward Kyogo Furuhashi scored in a second straight Champions League match and Daizen Maeda had an assist as Celtic drew 2-2 at home against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday to earn its first point after three games in Group E.

Furuhashi, who opened his Champions League account in a 2-1 home loss to Lazio on Oct. 4, slotted in the opener just four minutes into the action at Celtic Park.

Receiving the ball down the right flank, Furuhashi passed the ball across the edge of the box, ran behind the Atletico backline to receive a precise first-time return ball from Matt O'Riley and found the far bottom corner with his left foot.

Antoine Griezmann leveled for Atletico when the France forward saw his penalty tipped onto the post by Joe Hart but tucked in the rebound in the 25th minute.

Maeda helped Celtic restore its lead three minutes later when his left-wing cross reached Luis Palma at the far post, with the Honduras attacker taking a touch before drilling in a low effort off the far upright.

But the Scottish champions let the Spanish giants level again eight minutes after the interval.

Marcos Llorente whipped in a low cross from the right which was met by a diving header from Alvaro Morata on a bounce.

Furuhashi came off with 10 minutes to go and Maeda played the full 90 minutes, but midfielder Reo Hatate was taken off seven minutes into the match with an apparent hamstring injury.

Atletico is second in Group E on five points, a point behind leaders Feyenoord who beat Lazio 3-1 at home on the night. Ayase Ueda came on in the 78th minute for the Dutch champions, while Daichi Kamada remained on the bench for Lazio as they stayed on four points.
