Minami Katsu overcame a three-shot deficit to win the Japan Women's Open golf championship for the second year in a row on Sunday, giving her the second major title of her career.

The 24-year-old Katsu shot a 4-under 68 in the final round for a 3-under-par total of 285, one stroke ahead of South Korea's Shin Ji Yai, on the Sumire Course of Murasaki Country Club in Noda, Chiba Prefecture.

Katsu earned ¥30 million ($207,000) for her eighth career win on the Japan LPGA Tour.

Shin could only manage an even-par 72 after taking a one-shot lead into the final round. Yuna Nishimura (68), Miyuu Yamashita (71) and Yuri Yoshida (73) finished tied for third at even par for the tournament.

Seventeen-year-old sensation Saki Baba, who won the U.S. Women's Amateur championship in mid-August, was the low amateur in the four-day event, sharing 11th place at 5-over.
